Welcome

Battersea Methodist Mission is presently meeting at Christchurch and St Stephen Church on Battersea Park Road. The last service at the Mission took place on Easter Sunday 2009. The church building has had to close for safety reasons. The work required to fulfil present safety standards costs more than we have and has made us think carefully about the wisdom of its investment.

Over its seventy year history the church has provided services to the community that range from worship through a whole range of medical and social care. Over the years many of these services have been delivered by other charities working in close partnership with the Mission. Each of these projects has now found a new home within the community.

The worshipping congregation now faces the task of thinking through what shape of ministry is appropriate for the twenty first century and what is required to facilitate it. We are grateful to Christchurch and St Stephen for making their church available to us at this important time.

The next year will be spent exploring future possibilities with the hope of redeveloping the site with the same pioneering spirit that marked its beginning in 1940.
